As you may already know, prototyping is the first stage of making an idea a reality. A prototype is the physical embodiment of your idea, which can be used to test its feasibility and get feedback.

A prototype should be able to do all, or almost all the things that you want your final product to do, so it’s crucial that you seek out a prototyping partner that can fulfil your unique needs.

Our focus is on small and medium hardware technologies. Let’s delve a little deeper into what that means for inventors.

What types of inventions don’t we do?

Firstly, there are some prototypes that we cannot create for inventors. This list includes:

  • Devices that shoot, fly, or produce chemical reactions.

  • Automobiles or motor-driven devices.

  • Software development.

  • Non-technological creams and/or beauty products.

  • Medical devices requiring medical certification.

These projects will need to be handled by a specialist provider, as their requirements fall out of our range of expertise.

What types of inventions can we support with?

Luckily, there are a whole host of projects that our experts can work on. Most importantly, we work with small and medium sized devices only. This could include something that you can hold in your hand, or perhaps hang on a wall. Inventions which are larger than this do not fit within our parameters.

When it comes to the inner workings of your prototype, we make prototypes for inventions with electronic and/or mechanical components only. Our expert community comprises product designers, electrical and hardware engineers, so their expertise is perfect for this remit.

Finally, we love collaborating with inventors on prototypes that fit into the IoT (Internet of Things) category. What does this mean? IoT devices are physical objects equipped with sensors, processing ability, software and other technologies that facilitate the exchange of data with other systems over the Internet. For example, this could be a sensor that recognizes when restaurant staff has prepared an order for delivery, sending a notification over the internet to the courier’s phone. Check out our case studies for a comprehensive idea of what the IoT encompasses.
